HERE ARE SOME QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE:

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO HAVE THE 3D / 4D ULTRASOUND DONE?

The ultrasound can be done any time after the 20th week of your pregnancy.  For the best results, clearer more defined images, any time after the 23rd week is recommended.

CAN I BRING FAMILY AND FRIENDS?

Yes, family and friends are welcome, but please let us know in advance how many people will be coming.  Please try to limit your group to five, we do make exceptions and we will try to accommodate your request with advance notice.

CAN THE GENDER OF THE BABY BE DETERMINED?

Yes, if your baby cooperates his or her gender can be determined with almost 100% accuracy.  Of course, if the baby is not positioned properly gender sometimes can not be determined.  But don't despair, we will have you come back on another day when your baby may be more cooperative at no additional cost.

DO I NEED TO DRINK WATER AND/OR ABSTAIN FROM EATING BEFORE HAVING THE ULTRASOUND PERFORMED?

No, feel free to eat and drink normally.  You do not need to have a full bladder or drink large amount of water before you arrive.  In fact, if you have something sweet to eat just before your appointment it may help to make your baby more active during your appointment.

IS THIS PROCEDURE SAFE?

Ultrasound technology has been in use for 50 years and has undergone extensive studies over the past 35 years.  None of these studies have found any negative impact on either the mother or the baby as a result of ultrasound scans.  In fact, one report states:  "No, confirmed biological effects on patients or instrument operators caused by exposure intensities typical of present diagnostic instruments have ever been reported."

HAS YOUR STAFF HAD ULTRASOUND TRAINING?

Yes, your ultrasound session will be conducted by a trained ultrasound technician (see page three on this web site) with extensive experience in this field.

DOES THE 3D / 4D ULTRASOUND REPLACE ANY OF YOUR PRENATAL CARE?

No, your prenatal care is separate and distinct from the 3D/4D ultrasounds.  In fact, you must sign a waiver stating that you are receiving prenatal care and are following all prenatal care recommendations that are being made by your OB/GYN physician.  In fact, please read the paragraph on prenatal care on page three of this web site.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO I NEED TO MAKE MY APPOINTMENT?

We require appointments, but the advance time varies depending on previous bookings.  We do on occasion have cancellations that may allow for a same day appointment.  But in all cases you should telephone for more information.

HOW LONG DOES THE SESSION LAST?

Generally, the ultrasound session will last approximately 30 minutes but plan on being at our facility at least fifteen minutes before your scheduled appointment to fill out your paper work.

WHAT DO I GET FOR MY MONEY?

You get at least three still photos, a CD ROM and a DVD (movie) that are yours to keep.  The DVD can be viewed on most standard DVD players for home television screen viewing.

No, the 3D/4D ultrasound is not currently accepted as a necessary medical procedure.
